Team & Philosophy
Grenzhof is now run by the fourth generation of the Kaiser family. From its beginnings as a village inn, the family has developed Grenzhof into a highly regarded restaurant known far beyond Heidelberg. The former guest rooms have been transformed into a comfortable boutique hotel. Ulrike Kugler-Oestergaard, nĂŠe Kaiser, and Robert Kaiser continue to shape Grenzhofâs distinctive identity while successfully carrying on the family tradition.

Sebastian AndrĂŠe
Sebastian AndrĂŠe comes from Passau in Bavaria. He trained at Karl Edererâs Michelin-starred gourmet restaurant âGlockenbachâ. His career quickly took him to renowned establishments including âChesa Piraniâ in Switzerland, working with Daniel Bumann, and the Bareiss in Baiersbronn with Peter Lumpp â both awarded two Michelin stars. In 2010, he earned his first Michelin star as Head Chef at âDie Wutzschleifeâ in RĂśtz-Hillstett, and later another at âSe7en Oceansâ in Hamburg. It was there that Ulrike Kugler-Oestergaard and Christian Kugler discovered his talent. It soon became clear that he was an ideal fit for Grenzhof. The pressure of retaining a Michelin star, combined with his desire to start a family, made the decision an easy one â and proved to be a stroke of good fortune for Grenzhof. Since May 2014, he has led the hotelâs kitchen with passion and dedication.

Our service team aims to do more than simply serve food and drinks: they create moments to savour. Without this team, Grenzhof would not be what it is today â a place where hospitality is truly lived.
